Eastern Wildlife Center is always trying to improve rehabilitation and sometimes it means letting our Leaders take pro-active approaches for change. We have done it with the State Group, the State itself and we are currently doing it to the USFWS. Sure it gets us on the out, we dont care, it obviously isn't about rehab if it is taken as personal because its about the animals. EGOS we dont need in Rehabilitation, Experts? well we know most and they are'nt that. Just plain discussion about the welfare and laws that govern animals is what we do.
We are currently, using our congressman in DC to change the Golden/Bald Eagle act. It is a shame to have Eagles, sitting on adoption lists, that cannot be accepted by quailified centers that are not "public" under the current laws. Why do we care? because we see them every year and it is a big problem trying to place them. When they are placed, they are then put back on the list beacuse that center has to many. We will not give up and although we have so far gotten the standard Washington answer our congressman knows EWC and has witnessed releases, and he aint giving up, Walter B. Jones is his name, better known for his great work, freedom fries, and no to the OLF disaster at Pocossin Wildlife Refuge. Below will be the back and forth banter in writting as we chalange this law. If you support this effort let us know .
Mark watches as Jefferson heads towards Bath Creek, She goes straight up and clears the tree behind the light pole, she never stopped.
Thumbs up from Dr. Mac says it all. What a wild day, cold for the 7th of April and snow showers when we headed home. We got up at seven so were a little tired but rehab goes on even when you are rushed, Kay, on the left in white, has baby squirrels in the jacket front pocket because they needed feeding before we got home.
Cant see the forest for the trees sometimes. A Barred owl blends nicely to the background.
Harmony, we blend several species together at times, theese two are considered junk by most rehab centers in this state, but EWC does'nt feel it has the right to play GOD, we dont lecture crying children as to why, we try to help! Who decides? Some Vet? Some Offical? Not here, they dont, and you know ,that might be why 10 vets in this county will do anything for us, we are a rehab center not a euthanasia factory.
